The streets of Cape Town and the much-loved Fan Walk once again erupted with life on Friday 27 August when the Absa Premiership season kicked off in style with an exciting double-header.
Newly-promoted Vasco da Gama played PSL giants Orlando Pirates at 6pm, followed by a match between Ajax Cape Town and Bloemfontein Celtic at 8:45pm.
The City of Cape Town is striving to harness the spirit of the World Cup into the Premier Soccer League season – and hopes the public will return to Cape Town’s World Cup Stadium to support local soccer.
Pirates had a 2-1 victory over Vasco da Gama, while Ajax gave Cape Town something to cheer about when they beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0.
