CTICC Goes Unconventional with Good Hope FM Kinky Afro Party
The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will be transformed into a party zone for the Good Hope FM Kinky Afro party taking place on 5 November 2010.
According to CTICC, Chief Operating Officer, Joey Pather, more than 6000 square metres of exhibition space and over 100 meters of bar space will be utilised to host this event, which has been hailed as Cape Town’s biggest 80`s and 90s Old School Party. This is the second time this year that the centre will play host to this event, which is expected to attract over 8000 people.
Pather added that even though the centre is more accustomed to hosting 8000 conference delegates as opposed to party goers the centre is well equipped to successfully execute an event of this nature. “We have seen a marked increased in the number of special events hosted at the centre” says Pather. Special events, which can be characterised as public performances, music and other events with an entertainment value has increased from 31 to 100 during the 2009/2010 financial year This is a direct result of a specific focus on attracting more of these types of events to the CTICC in an effort to unlock greater value from a more diverse client base added Pather.
In order to ensure that guests at the Good Hope FM Kinky Afro party are treated to a world class experience every measure and contingency has been put in place. CTICC has worked closely with the organisers to ensure that the event runs smoothly. To eliminate long bar queues more than 100 metres of bar space will be specially constructed for this event. In addition a 130 trained cocktail barmen have also been specially deployed to manage the bars. The venue will be equipped with the latest technology and sound equipment and will boast six large LED screens, multiple Live AV link ups and a 3 D LED stage. To ease traffic congestion the venue will also have multiple entry points. This time round there also be a raised VIP platform offering exclusive access.
According to Good Hope FM Marketing Manager, Meegan Kieffer. “As Cape Town’s leading music station, which endeavours to “Connect Cape Town” we like to align ourselves with iconic locations that are known for their great design and infrastructure in the Mother city. Choosing the CTICC as the location for our Good Hope FM Kinky Afro event was therefore a no – brainer, as this location is very much part of Cape Town and with our previous event hosted there being such a success we could not think of another venue that could offer the station and its listeners another magnificent experience”.
Pather said other special events that the centre has lined up include the “ Blacks Only” comedy show, Crossing over with John Edwards Live , Remember the time – A tribute to Michael Jackson and the Cape Select Sale next year, which is the first horse sale show that the centre will host.
