Neil Diamond
Neil Diamond will be performing in South Africa for the first time during April 2011. There will be four shows, beginning on 2 April at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg, 5 April at the Moses Mabhida Stadium Durban, 8 April at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth and 11 April, 2011, at the Cape Town Stadium. Over the course of a career that kicked in with the rush of “Cherry Cherry” in 1966 and continues nearly four decades later, Neil Diamond has sold over 120 million albums and set box office records at major venues all over the world.
He has charted a staggering 37 top-10 singles and 18 top-10 albums. In September, 2010, he was nominated for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. His last studio album, “Home Before Dark” (2008), debuted at number one in the US and internationally. His 2009 DVD, Hot August Night/ NYC, has been certified double platinum. A Grammy Award-winning artist, Diamond is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. Diamond’s many other achievements include a Golden Globe Award and 12 Grammy nominations. He was NARAS’s 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year.

Cape Town International Jazz Festival – Community Free Concert
Cape Town Carnival
The Cape Town Carnival will takes place on 19 March 2011. The primary objective of the festival is to bring together the diverse people of the City of Cape Town, in an event which is inclusive, creatively inspired and enjoyable. The universal language of dancing and music would bind the communities together through their participation in this exciting new event in the Cape Town season. The idea is that an annual theme will be interpreted through a variety of dance styles, carnival songs, and festive floats celebrating and building appreciation for the cultural diversity in our country.
Groups would be urged to participate with cross-genre cross-cultural music/ dance/ costumes and decorations, which portray the richness of our society. One of the main judging criteria will be based on the ability to portray the mash-ups of the different cultures and elements.
The most popular group will then be decided by experts in the fields of dance, music, art and design as well as through the votes from the public. The Carnival will celebrate a truly South African expression of Music, Dance and Arts and educate and inform the world of the rich culture and history of South Africa.
