Capture My Cape Town and Win

Capture my Cape Town

In celebration of My Cape Town  and World Tourism Month this September, Cape Town Tourism has put out a call to all photographers and filmmakers to enter the photographic competition; Capture My Cape Town. From MMS mavericks and doccie dramatists to pictorial pros and point-and-shoot enthusiasts, the Capture My Cape Town competition invites Capetonians of all skill levels to capture the Cape Town that they live in and also the Cape Town that they discover anew during the My Cape Town month. In partnership with SANPARKS, there are great prizes to incentivise entrants. The winning videographer will receive R15 000 in cash and will stand the chance of being chosen to film the Big Six locations in Cape Town for use on the Cape Town Tourism website at a future date. The best high-res photograph wins R10 000 in cash and a full Hoerikwaggo Trail walk with tented accommodation on Table Mountain. The winning MMS (mobile phone submission) will win R5 000 in cash and a two-night stay at Overseers Cottage on Table Mountain.

HOW TO ENTER:

Step 1. Get out-and-about during the month of September and be a tourist in your own City, seeing the things you see on a daily basis in a different light.

Step 2. Capture the things that you see; your passions, your inspirations, the City that surrounds you on MMS, film or video.

Step 3. Share your experiences, and our beautiful City, with the rest of the world by submitting your work to My Cape Town - follow the instructions to upload or send a mail to Photo Entries.

The public will be invited to participate in voting for their favourite submissions by visiting the various Capture My Cape Town platforms (Flickr and Facebook) to review the work. In addition, a team of carefully selected judges will evaluate the entries to decide on winners in the various categories.

The Capture My Cape Town competition opens 1 September and closes 30 September. Winners will be announced early in October.
