The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will participate at the 2010 Design Indaba Expo to be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from the 26-28 February 2010.

The DTI will fund twenty mainly black and women-owned creative companies to showcase their design products and services at the event. These include ceramics, soft furnishing, jewellery and home décor.

According to Nadia Sujee, Director of the DTI’ s Cultural Industries, the DTI with Design Indaba Expo will again host a mini-pavilion where the companies will exhibit and sell their products. Furthermore the DTI will bring in foreign buyers under the Inward Buying Mission Scheme to facilitate trading between the exhibitors and buyers.

“The Inward Buying Mission Scheme offers marketing and promotion platform to South African producers in the design, especially those residing in rural and semi urban areas and expose emerging design enterprises to global trends as part of the DTI’s market access programme,” said Sujee

Design Indaba recognises graphic design, advertising, film, music, fashion design, industrial design, architecture, craft, visual art, new media, publishing, broadcasting and performing arts shoulder-to-shoulder and aims to offer visitors a high curatorial standard with its all-South African products that are original, contemporary and innovative.

The Cape Town Partnership is a sponsor and supporter of the Design Indaba.
