Unruly Roadworks cannot continue says CCID
The Central City Improvement District (CCID) has received numerous complaints from upset business and property owners in the Central City regarding the inconsistent manner in which roads and pavements have been excavated. Some of these projects are 2010-related, like the high voltage electricity cables being installed through the Foreshore and Western Boulevard to the new stadium. At the same time, Telkom, Neotel and Vodacom are installing fibre optic cables to provide clients with the latest in IT technology – which have to be installed in underground ducts and cables. Energy Efficiency Initiative: Media24 leads the way
Media24, has taken the lead by committing to a retrofit of its 25-story head office on the Foreshore in order to make it more energy efficient. It is the first building to go ahead with a retrofit as part of the Cape Town Partnership’s Energy Efficiency Initiative. The retrofit will start with the installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system of about 4500
lights and fitting geyser blankets. These measures alone will save the company an estimated 36% of its annual electricity bill. It will substantially reduce electricity demand and consumption, with a payback period of less than two years. Continued…
