The long-awaited results of the potplant competition which was held in the Upper Long Street area at the end of last year, are finally out.
The Bead Merchants took top honours, while Milk was placed second.
The pots were donated by Tasso Evangelinos, the Chief Operations Officer of the CCID. He donated a total of 44 pots, with plants, to members of the Long Street Association. They were tasked with putting all their creative energies to work, painting them in all sorts of colours and themes. The competition was to see which business would decorate their pots the best.
The Bead Merchants did it with beads, while Jo’burg bar painted the Johannesburg skyline, as well as the mountain, onto their pot. Masala Dosa coloured their pink and Lola’s went the whole hog and redecorated their whole shop.
First prize is a night’s stay at Daddy Long Legs and a meal voucher at Boo Radleys which will be taken up by Mr Kevin Sakala and Miss Zimkhita Mgujulwa.
Second prize, a R250 cash prize from CCID and a meal voucher to Royale, will be taken up by Ms Jane White and Ms Belinda White.
Congratulations to everybody who took part.
